ANGEN is the Alabama Next Generation Emergency Network, a project to install an Internet Protocol (IP) network to allow handling 9-1-1 calls via IP. At the Board's March 18, 2015 meeting, a motion passed  to put the ANGEN project on hold. No further development is planned during the current contract.

In December 2014 all carriers completed their conversion to ANGEN. Since then all wireless 9-1-1 calls route via the ANGEN network.
